Estimating 4.61 grams of CO2 produced per page view, our website’s estimated carbon footprint in 2025 was 2548 lbs. CO2

This means in 2025, on average our weekly carbon footprint was 49 lbs of CO2.

For comparison, a printed newspaper typically uses 200-400 grams of CO2 per issue. Assuming that all of our articles could fit into a single daily newspaper, this would average 800 issues per day (we significantly increased our content this year), likely at the mid range of 300 grams per issue. Therefore, a printed daily newspaper with the same content as Radio Free Hub City would have a carbon footprint of 529 lbs. per day, or 193,085 lbs. per year.

By reading local and regional news from Radio Free Hub City instead of print news, our readers helped save 190,537 lbs. of CO2 in 2025. This means even though our carbon footprint was larger this year, we saved 53,829 lbs. more of CO2 compared to 2024.
