The investigation, initiated after the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Internal Investigative Unit contacted the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit on December 16th, suggests an altercation occurred between three inmates, including Sun. Following this incident, Sun was transported to the facility’s medical unit where his death was confirmed. Investigators from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit and crime scene technicians from the Forensic Sciences Division responded to the scene to gather evidence. Two other inmates have been identified as suspects in the incident, though their identities are being withheld pending the formal placement of charges. Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be submitted to the Office of the State’s Attorney in Washington County for their review. The case remains active and ongoing.
