HydroJug is initiating a recall of approximately 17,000 of its 14-ounce children’s sport tumblers due to a potential choking hazard, as announced by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The issue stems from the rivets on the tumbler’s handle, which can loosen and cause the handle to detach. This detachment poses a significant choking risk to young children.

The recalled tumblers are identified by a serial number of “235010” or the absence of a serial number, both located on the bottom of the tumbler beneath a rubber boot. The handle, which is attached to the lid, is the component with the problematic rivets. The tumblers were available in five distinct patterns: Cowgirl, Daisy Checkers, Dinosaur, Sport, and Bows. Consumers who own these tumblers should immediately cease using them and contact HydroJug for a replacement lid. To initiate the replacement process, consumers are instructed to email HydroJug at service@thehydrojug.com. They should include available order details, their shipping address, and photographic evidence of the tumbler’s bottom clearly showing the serial number or its absence. Furthermore, consumers will need to provide photos of the recalled tumbler lid permanently marked with the word “Recalled” before disposing of the lid. HydroJug will then verify eligibility and ship a free replacement lid. While the firm has documented 656 reports of the handle rivets loosening, no injuries have been reported in connection with this defect. The affected tumblers were sold between May 2025 and June 2025 for approximately $25 at retailers including Academy Sports, Scheels, Combined Sales Company, Gordons Ace Hardware, Bucks Ace, Kents Grocery, and Basin Sports, as well as online through Hydrojug.com, Amazon.com, Well.ca, and iHerb.com. The products were manufactured in the United States by HydroJug, Inc., of Ogden, Utah.
