According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, Grizzly Industrial is recalling approximately 2,300 of its G0815 15” 3HP Heavy-Duty Planers due to a significant hazard that could lead to serious injury. The recalled planers, which are used for smoothing and flattening boards to ensure consistent thickness, present an impact and laceration risk.

The identified issue stems from the chip breaker potentially contacting the cutterhead blades during operation. This contact can cause debris to be forcefully ejected from the machine, posing a danger to both the operator and anyone nearby. Grizzly Industrial has documented seven instances where the rotating cutters of these planers have broken. While no injuries have been reported in connection with these incidents, the potential for harm is substantial.

The affected units are all Grizzly Industrial 15” 3HP heavy-duty planers with the model number G0815. These machines measure 32 inches in width, 28 inches in depth, and 23.5 inches in height. The designation “grizzly.com” and the model number “G0815” are printed on the front of the planer, serving as identifiers. The planers were sold nationwide and online through various retailers, including Bibb Tool & Cutter, Hamilton Tool and Supply, PMC Tool Company, and Stoll Brothers Lumber, as well as on websites such as Grizzly.com, HomeDepot.com, TractorSupply.com, and MaxTool.com. Sales occurred between June 2016 and September 2025, with prices ranging from $900 to $2,400. The planers were manufactured in Taiwan and imported by Grizzly Industrial Inc., located in Bellingham, Washington.

Consumers who have purchased one of the recalled planers are strongly advised to cease using the equipment immediately. Grizzly Industrial is offering a free repair kit to address the safety issue. This kit includes an upgraded chip breaker adjustment rod, a spacer, set screws, lock washers, and lock nuts. Installation instructions will be provided with the kit. To obtain the repair kit and further information, consumers can contact Grizzly Industrial toll-free at 888-615-7944 at any time. Alternatively, they can reach out via email at recalls@grizzly.com or visit the company’s website at http://www.grizzly.com/recalls or http://www.grizzly.com and navigate to the “Recalls” section at the bottom of the page.
