According to information from the Department of Homeland Security, the 54-year-old suspect arrived at the federal building armed with multiple Molotov cocktails. A Protective Security Officer (PSO) on duty reportedly heard the individual making anti-ICE remarks towards officers stationed outside the property before the suspect proceeded to throw two of the devices at the guards. Fortunately, the bottles did not ignite, and no injuries or damage to federal property were reported. Authorities also discovered four knives and a Leatherman tool in the suspect’s possession at the time of his arrest.
The suspect reportedly expressed his intent to destroy the building and harm the officers present, while continuing to voice derogatory remarks about ICE personnel. This incident underscores a concerning trend of escalating threats and assaults against federal law enforcement. Data indicates that ICE officers are currently experiencing a substantial increase in both physical assaults and death threats. This alleged attack follows closely on the heels of a fatal ambush shooting of two National Guardsmen in Washington D.C., further highlighting the dangers faced by Department of Homeland Security law enforcement.
The arrested individual’s criminal record reportedly spans nearly four decades, with previous charges including attempted murder in 1987, armed robbery in 1991, and a charge of annoying or molesting a victim under 18 in 2007. The Department of Homeland Security has stated that individuals who assault law enforcement officers will face prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.
