The City of Hagerstown is inviting residents and visitors to step back in time this holiday season with special German Christmas tours at the historic Jonathan Hager House Museum. These limited engagements, occurring on the first three Saturdays of December, offer a unique opportunity to experience Christmas as it was celebrated in colonial times and through subsequent eras, according to a recent press release from the City of Hagerstown.

The tours will be held on Saturdays, December 6, 13, and 20, at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 2 p.m. Visitors will explore the founder’s first home, adorned with festive decorations, to gain insight into historical holiday customs. Standard admission rates will apply for these tours, with credit card payments being the only accepted form of transaction. The Jonathan Hager House Museum is located at 110 Key Street in Hagerstown.
In addition to the historical tours, attendees will have the chance to purchase a special commemorative ornament. A limited-edition City Park Lake swan ornament, presented in a cushioned navy-blue box, will be available for $15. This ornament is being offered as a way for individuals to add a unique piece to their holiday decorations or as a gift for enthusiasts of City Park.
While the museum’s regular touring season typically concludes in October, the German Christmas tours provide a special seasonal extension. For those interested in arranging private tours outside of the scheduled public times, arrangements can be made upon request. Further information can be obtained by calling 301-739-8577, extension 170, or by visiting the museum’s website at http://www.hagerhouse.org.
