The Washington County Public Safety Training Center is partnering with the American Red Cross to host a crucial blood drive on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This event aims to bolster blood supplies, which often see a significant decrease during the holiday season when demand is high for various medical needs, including surgeries, cancer treatments, and emergency situations. The Public Safety Training Center, located at 18350 Public Safety Place, off Sharpsburg Pike, has been selected as the venue due to its accessible location and modern facilities, intended to provide a comfortable experience for donors.

During the National Month of Giving, hospitals critically require blood donations to continue providing essential care. The American Red Cross is urging individuals to consider donating as a way to give back and potentially offer a life-saving transfusion to patients in need. This initiative seeks to foster a stronger and healthier community through the selfless act of donation. The organization particularly encourages eligible donors with Type O, B-, or A- blood to consider a Power Red donation, which can help an even greater number of patients. To ensure a streamlined donation process, appointments are strongly recommended. Potential donors can schedule their appointments by visiting RedCrossBlood.org and searching for “WashingtonCountyPSTC” or by calling 1-800-733-2767. The Red Cross Blood app is also available for download on both the App Store and Google Play for appointment scheduling. For those with specific questions about the blood drive, inquiries can be directed to Chris Amos at camos@washco-md.net.
