The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a warning to consumers to immediately stop using NyxQuark Portable Misting Fans. The warning stems from the product’s violation of mandatory safety standards for consumer products containing button cell or coin batteries. Specifically, the remote controls included with these fans contain a lithium coin battery that is easily accessible to children, presenting a significant ingestion hazard. If a child swallows a button cell or coin battery, it can cause severe internal chemical burns and potentially be fatal.

Approximately 4,490 of these misting fans were sold online through Amazon and other third-party sellers between May 2025 and September 2025 for about $70 each. The fans are black and have “Product Model: hw-003” printed on the front of the packaging and the back of the unit. The brand name “NyxQuark” is visible on the front of the fan. Each unit typically includes the fan, a charging cable, an anti-drip accessory, and the remote control containing the hazardous coin battery. The product was manufactured in China.
The CPSC has issued a Notice of Violation to Shenzhenshiliqunkejiyouxiangongsi, which operates as NyxQuark Store, the seller of these misting fans. To date, NyxQuark Store has not agreed to a recall of the product or offered any remedy to consumers. Reese’s Law and related CPSC regulations were established to set performance and labeling requirements for products with button cell or coin batteries to mitigate the risks to children.
Consumers are strongly advised to cease using the remote control for the NyxQuark Portable Misting Fans immediately and to dispose of them properly. Button cell and coin batteries are considered hazardous waste, and their disposal or recycling should follow local hazardous waste procedures. It is also prohibited to sell or give away these hazardous remote controls. Consumers who have experienced a safety incident or product defect with this product are encouraged to report it to the CPSC via http://www.SaferProducts.gov.
