The proposed facility will feature a comprehensive array of training amenities designed for year-round use. Plans include covered and open driving bays, a dedicated short game area, and synthetic grass putting and chipping greens. This modern complex is intended to provide a professional environment for golfers of all skill levels, from students and community members to seasoned players, to hone their skills. The covered driving range will allow for practice regardless of weather conditions, while the artificial turf greens are expected to facilitate the improvement of putting and green-reading abilities. This development is anticipated to bolster local recreational offerings and serve as a significant resource for golf education and player advancement within Washington County.
The overarching objective of the Golf Training Center project is to solidify Black Rock Golf Course’s position as a focal point for athletic development and community involvement. Key goals include broadening access to quality golf training facilities throughout the year, providing support for local school golf teams and community organizations, fostering increased youth participation and skill development, and promoting the lifelong enjoyment of golf. Contributions to this project are expected to benefit current and future generations of Washington County residents.
A capital fundraising campaign has been launched, inviting community members, golfers, and organizations to support the project through financial contributions or facility sponsorships. All funds generated will be directly allocated to the construction of the new training center. Donors will be acknowledged through permanent signage at the facility, with recognition levels including Eagle Sponsor (Platinum Level, $1,000+), Birdie Sponsor (Gold Level, $500+), Par Sponsor (Silver Level, $250+), and Caddie Sponsor (Bronze Level, $10+). Donations can be made via check delivered to Black Rock Golf Course or electronically through the Community Organization Fund Account. While there is no immediate deadline, donations will be accepted until the project’s completion and the installation of donor signage, which is projected for late 2026. Contributions to the Public Golf Corporation are eligible for tax deductions to the extent permitted by law.
A premier sponsorship opportunity is available, offering exclusive naming rights to the Black Rock Golf Training Center. The selected Hole-in-One Sponsor will receive significant recognition, including a large sign on the Driving Range Canopy and public acknowledgement as the facility’s Naming Rights Partner. This sponsorship requires a minimum five-year commitment with an annual contribution of $5,000 or more, and will involve prominent placement on facility signage and promotional materials, along with active collaboration with the Public Golf Corporation to support community golf programming. Proposals for naming rights must be submitted by January 23, 2026, to rcrabtree@washco-md.net and should include an organizational background, a statement of interest, and details on the proposed donation amount and payment schedule.
