The block party is designed to be a family-friendly affair, featuring a dedicated trick-or-treat period from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Attendees can look forward to a costume contest, with categories for both children and adults, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., respectively. Entertainment will be provided by DJ & MC Ryan Smetzer, and a bounce house will be available for younger participants.
Businesses interested in joining the trick-or-treat effort are encouraged to sign up, with a deadline of Friday, October 10th. Participation is free of charge, with businesses asked to bring their own small table or booth setup, decorations, and individually wrapped candy as their contribution. The suggested setup window for participating businesses is around 5:00 p.m. to allow for placement along South Potomac Street. Organizers are encouraging the use of sealed, store-bought candy, with a recommendation for nut-free options and clear labeling. Businesses are also welcome to distribute small promotional items or coupons alongside the candy. Those who sign up will receive a promotional kit to share their participation in the event, and will be tagged in event promotions where feasible.
Questions regarding participation or sign-up can be directed to events@hagerstownmd.org. The City of Hagerstown, through its Community Engagement Office, is hosting the event as part of its mission to foster a vibrant downtown where people and businesses can thrive.
