The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of Almpal Dissolved Oxygen Test Kits due to a violation of child-resistant packaging standards. The recalled kits contain a bottle of sulfuric acid that is not secured with child-resistant packaging, as mandated by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. This packaging defect presents a significant risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if young children ingest the contents. Approximately 470 units of these test kits are affected by this recall.

The Almpal Dissolved Oxygen Test Kits in question are identified by their cream-colored boxes with a white label that reads “Dissolved Oxygen Test Kit,” along with the manufacture date, batch number, and expiration date. These kits were sold on Amazon by the seller Almpal, which is doing business as Ningbo Leha E-Commerce Co., Ltd., a company based in China. The recalled products were available for purchase online from May 2025 through August 2025 for approximately $25. It is important to note that only unexpired kits are included in this specific recall.

Consumers who have purchased these dissolved oxygen test kits are urged to immediately secure them out of the sight and reach of children. To receive a full refund, customers must contact Almpal via email at lehapet@hotmail.com. As part of the refund process, consumers will be required to submit a photograph of the recalled bottles to the seller’s account through Amazon’s messaging platform for verification. Once the submitted images are successfully verified, a full refund will be issued. The CPSC advises consumers to dispose of all recalled kits, whether expired, unexpired, or unused, in accordance with local household hazardous waste regulations. Returning the product is not necessary. No incidents or injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

This recall highlights the importance of adherence to federal safety standards for consumer products, particularly those containing hazardous materials. The Poison Prevention Packaging Act aims to protect children from accidental ingestion of dangerous substances, and violations of these regulations can have severe consequences. Consumers are encouraged to be vigilant about product recalls and to take immediate action when a product poses a safety risk to their households.
