The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of approximately 8,600 units of Viofairy Hair Growth Serum. The recall is due to the product’s packaging, which violates a mandatory standard for child-resistant closures. The serum contains minoxidil, a substance that can cause serious injury or death if swallowed by young children, and its current packaging is not designed to prevent such access.

The Viofairy Hair Growth Serum is presented in black and gold packaging, with the serum itself contained in a black bottle featuring a gold and white label and a black cap. The product clearly states “VIOFAIRY HAIR GROWTH SERUM” and “5% MINOXIDIL With BIOTIN” on its front label. This product was available for purchase online through Amazon.com from January 2024 to September 2025 for approximately $15 per unit. The manufacturer, Guangzhou Runshu BioTech Co., Ltd., and the retailer, Shen Zhen Shi Yi Jiu Si Mao Yi You Xian Gong Si, also known as FDAF, are both based in China. No incidents or injuries have been reported in connection with this product thus far.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled Viofairy Hair Growth Serum are urged to immediately place the product out of the sight and reach of children. To receive a free replacement, consumers must follow specific instructions from FDAF on how to safely dispose of the product. This involves pouring the contents of the bottle into the trash and then emailing a photograph of the discarded bottle to sesuall@outlook.com. This recall underscores the critical importance of child-resistant packaging for products containing potentially hazardous substances, as mandated by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. The failure to comply with these safety regulations poses a significant risk to young children, potentially leading to accidental poisoning.
