In addition to the wing’s collective success, Captain Kerry T. Guy, a base contracting officer with the 175th Wing, received the Theodore Roosevelt Leadership Award for Company Grade Officers. This award celebrates outstanding junior officers in the Army and Air National Guard for their exceptional service, leadership, and commitment to their country and communities. Captain Guy was recognized for his instrumental role in transforming the Wing’s acquisition program. His efforts included restructuring the program, enhancing procurement strategies, improving market research, and streamlining contract administration. He successfully managed 32 contracts valued at $1.5 million, which led to improvements in the Wing’s lodging program and facility services, consequently boosting morale. Furthermore, Captain Guy spearheaded the Wing’s Innovation Spark Cell, securing $1.6 million in funding for Airman-driven initiatives that have significantly advanced operational capabilities. His accomplishments also include overseeing the Air National Guard’s first acquisition of a 3D concrete printer, a $349,000 investment aimed at revolutionizing deployed military construction. Captain Guy’s deployments have further demonstrated his commitment, including his service in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, where he managed contracts exceeding $21 million across Jordan, Syria, and Iraq, including a critical $8 million logistics support contract.
