DT Swiss is voluntarily recalling approximately 6,000 of its carbon fiber road wheels due to a defect that could compromise their structural integrity, posing a crash hazard to riders. The recall, announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), affects wheels sold both as standalone aftermarket products and as original equipment on various high-end road bicycles. Consumers who own these wheels are advised to stop using them immediately until they are replaced.

The affected products include DT Swiss carbon fiber road wheels with specific model codes: ERC 35mm/45mm, CRC 35mm/45mm, HEC 35mm/45mm, and ARC 50mm/55mm/65mm. These wheels can be identified by a small label located on the outside of the rim, which displays “DT Swiss ID” followed by a seven-digit code. All wheels with a DT Swiss ID code of 2740000 or higher are included in this recall. The wheels were manufactured in the USA, Poland, and Taiwan and were sold at independent bicycle dealers nationwide, as well as on new bicycles, between September 2024 and July 2025. The retail price for these wheels ranged from $1,000 to $1,880.
DT Swiss has received six reports of the outermost carbon layer separating around the rim flange, a condition that can lead to a critical failure of the wheel. While no injuries have been reported in connection with this defect, the company is taking proactive measures to address the safety concern. Consumers who believe they may have one of the affected wheels should contact DT Swiss directly to arrange for a replacement. To initiate the replacement process, consumers are instructed to register their wheels on the DT Swiss recall website at http://www.dtswiss.com/recall.
This recall also extends to approximately 150 units sold in Canada. Consumers can reach DT Swiss toll-free at 800-000-1994 between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Mountain Time, Monday through Friday. Alternatively, inquiries can be directed via email to Recall@dtswiss.com or through the company’s website by navigating to the “Recall” section at the bottom of http://www.dtswiss.com. The recall number assigned to this action is 25-445. The CPSC is responsible for protecting the public from unreasonable risks of injury associated with consumer products.
