The affected products, which include 10 different model numbers sold in colors like white, green, navy, and blue, were distributed through major national retailers including Target, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walmart, BJ’s Wholesale Club, and popular online platforms such as Amazon and Wayfair. Sold between February 2021 and July 2025 for $56 to $70, these folding stepstools feature two steps and a detachable safety bar located on the back. The model number is printed on a label on one of the arms, and the Cosco logo is molded onto the handle.
Consumers are urged to stop using the safety bar immediately and keep the product away from children until repairs are made. Dorel is offering a free repair kit that includes a sliding locking mechanism designed to prevent detachment, along with installation instructions and an updated warning label.

So far, 34 incidents have been reported, including two cases resulting in head injuries. In addition to the units sold in the U.S., another 11,000 were distributed in Canada. Anyone who owns one of the recalled stepstools should contact Dorel Home Furnishings for a repair kit by calling 888-628-3778 or visiting www.coscoproducts.com and navigating to the “SAFETY NOTICES” section.
Federal law prohibits the resale of recalled products, and consumers who encounter issues with receiving a remedy are encouraged to report the situation to CPSC via their official complaint form.
