The incident began around 12:13 p.m., when the Salisbury Fire Department discovered an item resembling a PVC pipe bomb while responding to a brush fire. Given the nature of the object, the department called in bomb technicians from the State Fire Marshal’s Office for further evaluation. Specialized explosive and accelerant-detection K9 units were also deployed to examine the surrounding area.
Technicians quickly determined the item was non-hazardous, and by approximately 2:40 p.m., the area was declared safe. Authorities reported no injuries and confirmed there was no threat to public safety. The swift response ensured that any potential risk was neutralized without the need for evacuations or major road closures.

Officials emphasized the importance of public vigilance and reminded citizens to follow the “three R’s” when encountering suspicious items: Recognize the object as potentially dangerous, Retreat from the area without touching it, and Report it immediately to emergency services. These steps can prevent unnecessary harm and ensure that appropriate agencies respond quickly.
