Owners of certain 2025 Ford vehicles, including the Lincoln Navigator, Expedition, and F-150 Lightning, should prepare for safety recalls that may impact their ability to drive safely or maintain resale value. Two separate issues—one involving potentially dangerous airbag deployment and another concerning brake system integrity—have triggered federal action and will require repairs at authorized dealerships.

Ford has issued a recall for 171 vehicles, including 15 Lincoln Navigators and 156 Ford Expeditions, due to passenger airbags that may have been manufactured with incorrect internal mesh filters. These filters could alter the inflation characteristics of the airbag, increasing pressure or velocity during deployment and raising the risk of passenger injury in a crash. Although no incidents have been reported to date, the company is proactively replacing the affected airbag modules. Owners will receive mailed instructions beginning August 11, 2025, and the repair will be performed at no cost.
A second recall affects five units of the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning battery-electric pickup. In this case, improperly repaired front brake hose bracket screws could loosen and lead to brake fluid leaks. If unchecked, this defect could cause reduced braking performance and extend stopping distances, heightening crash risks. Owners are being advised to have their vehicles inspected and repaired promptly. Updated components will be installed at Ford or Lincoln dealerships for free. Notification letters are expected to be mailed beginning July 14, 2025.

Neither of the defects currently has a known warning indicator, although brake fluid leaks may eventually trigger a dashboard alert if fluid levels fall too low. Vehicle owners can confirm if their specific VIN is affected by contacting their dealership or by using the Ford Online Automotive Service Information System starting June 30, 2025, for the airbag issue and July 2, 2025, for the brake issue.
While the number of vehicles affected is relatively small, residents who own or recently purchased any of these models are advised to act quickly to ensure continued vehicle safety and compliance. Both defects were identified during internal inspections and supplier audits, and Ford is not aware of any related injuries or accidents.
