The recall was issued after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) tested the tires and observed sidewall separation near the bead area—an issue that could potentially lead to crashes or shortened tire life, especially under harsh driving conditions. Although PT Elangperdana Tyre Industry, the manufacturer based in West Java, Indonesia, reported that its internal testing showed no failures from 2020 to 2024, the company has agreed to recall all 4,196 tires out of caution. Consumers may recognize early signs of the problem through unusual vibrations or noise while driving. As part of the remedy, those returning the tires will be reimbursed for the full cost and receive an additional $20 per tire to cover mounting and balancing. Distributors and retailers will also receive compensation, with Zafco International LLC covering all transportation expenses related to the returns. Notifications for the recall will be distributed starting July 15, 2025, with the reimbursement program running through January 1, 2026.
