The recall includes several models of 509 Tactical and Polaris Tactical helmets, primarily manufactured between 2020 and 2023. This includes the Tactical 2.0 and 3.0 series, as well as various models equipped with Fidlock® fasteners. Affected helmet sizes range from youth small to adult 4XL, and they were sold in a variety of colors both online and through nationwide retailers, priced between $140 and $900.
Consumers with affected 509 or Polaris Tactical 3.0 or 2.0 helmets manufactured in 2023 are eligible for a refund, website credit, or replacement. Helmets with Fidlock® fasteners sold from 2020 to the present can be repaired. Owners should visit ride509.com or polaris.com to confirm whether their helmet is affected and follow the specific instructions provided for return or repair. Once confirmed, the helmets should be discarded following the manufacturers’ destruction guidelines.

The recall was prompted by at least one reported incident where a helmet detached during a crash, leading to a concussion. The Consumer Product Safety Commission warns that continuing to use these helmets may expose riders to serious head injuries during accidents. Proof of purchase is not required for participation in the recall, and both manufacturers are reaching out directly to known purchasers.
