Hundreds of pool owners across the U.S. are being urged to stop using a specific type of pool drain cover sold online, following a federal recall due to life-threatening safety risks. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced that about 500 Jeriflyer 8-inch pool drain covers, sold on Amazon by Junjuanshop, fail to meet mandatory federal safety standards and pose a serious entrapment hazard to swimmers.

The recalled covers violate the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act, which mandates protective measures to prevent swimmers—particularly children—from becoming trapped by powerful suction forces in pools and spas. The covers were available for purchase between April 2024 and May 2025, priced between $10 and $15. While no injuries or incidents have been reported so far, the product’s design does not comply with established safety standards, prompting federal intervention.
Buyers are instructed to immediately stop using the affected pool drain covers. To obtain a refund, consumers must remove the drain cover from their pool, photograph it, and send the image to the company via email at Junjuanshop2025@outlook.com. Amazon and the seller are contacting all known customers directly to coordinate returns and refunds.

To ensure safety, pool owners should inspect their pool equipment and confirm all drain covers are compliant with the VGBA. It is also recommended that children be taught to avoid drains when swimming. The recalled covers are white, plastic, and measure about 8.1 inches in diameter. Manufactured in China, the product recall number is 25-368.
