We need your help to stay paywall free

We know you value local news and entertainment that is free, open, and independent. Producing high-quality, paywall-free content isn't free. It takes time, effort, and resources to keep you informed and entertained. Unlike corporate media, we don’t have deep-pocketed investors or big advertisers funding our work—we rely on you, our readers and listeners, to keep Radio Free Hub City running. We're literally running on a shoe-string budget, but keep working hard to provide as much news and entertainment as we can.

If just 5% of local area residents became paid supporters at only $5 per month, we could meet our fundraising goals and continue expanding our news coverage depth while continuing to provide free access for everyone. So, if you'd like to help us in our continuing quest to improve our coverage, please consider becoming a paying supporter.

The holiday travel window extends from Wednesday, July 2, through Monday, July 7. To ease congestion, MDTA recommends motorists heading eastbound cross the bridge early in the morning or later in the evening. For example, on Thursday, July 3, the optimal eastbound travel times are before 7 a.m. or after 8 p.m. On the return westbound trip, the best times include before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m. Travelers who do not adjust their plans should anticipate long delays in both directions.

To help maintain access for emergency services and local residents, drivers are encouraged to remain on US 50 rather than diverting onto local roads near the bridge. MDTA may implement two-way traffic operations on the bridge to ease eastbound congestion, although these will be restricted during periods of adverse weather, reduced visibility, or high westbound traffic volumes.

Motorists are advised to pay close attention to overhead lane signals on and around the bridge. A red “X” indicates a closed lane, a yellow “X” signals that drivers should prepare to move out of the lane, and a green arrow denotes an open lane. Law enforcement will continue increased patrols throughout the holiday period, with particular attention to unsafe driving and violations of lane-control signals. Aggressive drivers can be reported by calling MDTA Police Dispatch at 410-537-7911.
