Owners of 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L vehicles may soon be receiving recall notices due to a potential safety issue that could impact driver visibility. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) has announced a recall affecting 1,689 vehicles built between November 2022 and September 2023, after discovering that some units may have defective HVAC blower motors, which are essential for defrosting and defogging windshields.

The defect stems from a damaged connector in the HVAC blower motor that can cause the system to fail. If the blower motor becomes inoperative, it may prevent the windshield from defrosting properly, potentially violating Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 103. This could significantly impair visibility during adverse weather, increasing the risk of crashes. Jeep Grand Cherokee L models produced between November 2, 2022, and September 18, 2023, and Grand Cherokee models built through September 19, 2023, are impacted.

Chrysler will begin notifying dealerships on July 1, 2025, and will start notifying vehicle owners on July 8, 2025. Affected vehicles will be inspected and, if necessary, the blower motor assembly will be replaced at no cost. The recall affects only vehicles manufactured during the suspect period with the faulty part; similar vehicles outside that production window are not included. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has assigned the recall number 25V430.

Drivers who notice that their windshield defogging or air conditioning systems are not functioning should contact their local dealer. In the meantime, owners are advised not to drive the affected vehicles and to park them outdoors as a precaution.
