According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the defect involves the engine wire harness coming into contact with the engine coolant hose. This design flaw may cause chafing or disconnection of the Powertrain Control Module connector pins, which could result in an unexpected engine stall while driving—significantly increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford has confirmed that all 40 affected vehicles are equipped with 2.7-liter engines and that the issue stems from improper clipping of the coolant hose to the wire harness. Although no crashes or injuries have been reported, the manufacturer is advising owners not to drive the vehicles and to park them outside as a precaution.

Starting July 28, 2025, owners of the impacted vehicles will receive notification by mail with instructions to bring their trucks to a Ford or Lincoln dealer. Technicians will inspect the engine wire harness, repair any damage, relocate the coolant hose clip, and install protective sleeving—free of charge. The remedy aims to prevent further abrasion and ensure engine performance remains stable.
Drivers can confirm whether their vehicle is included in the recall by contacting Ford at 1-866-436-7332 or visiting a local dealer with access to Ford’s OASIS database. The affected models are not in sequential VIN order, so direct confirmation is necessary.
