Ford Motor Company is recalling 45 units of its 2025 Ranger light trucks due to critical instrument panel malfunctions that could prevent safety warnings from displaying correctly, creating a higher risk of accidents. The affected vehicles were produced over a four-day period in March at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant and may have been shipped with improperly configured instrument panel clusters (IPCs).

The defective IPCs can result in non-functional or inaccurate displays for the fuel gauge, fuel economy, and distance-to-empty metrics. In addition, multiple dashboard alerts and warning chimes tied to essential systems—such as forward collision detection, automatic emergency braking, traction and stability control, and seatbelt usage—may fail to activate if a malfunction is present. These defects violate multiple federal safety standards (FMVSS 101, 126, 127, 135, and 208), prompting the recall under NHTSA campaign number 25V399.

According to the recall documentation submitted by Ford on June 13, 2025, the defect arose when vehicles underwent an IPC replacement but were shipped before receiving proper configuration. Ford identified the issue through warranty data and diagnostic trouble codes indicating improper setup. Though no accidents or injuries have been reported, Ford has acknowledged six warranty claims potentially tied to the defect.
Owners of the affected trucks will receive notification letters beginning June 23, 2025, instructing them to bring their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealership for a no-cost software update to properly configure the IPC. The company urges customers to check their vehicle’s recall status online or by contacting a dealership. VINs became searchable as of June 16, 2025.
