Customers at the High’s convenience store in New Market may notice increased security following an overnight theft involving masked suspects who stole thousands of dollars in cigarettes. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the early morning incident, which took place around 2:15 a.m. on June 20.

Deputies responded to the store at 11780 Old National Pike after employees reported a theft in progress. According to law enforcement, three men wearing black ski masks and gloves entered the store and directed workers to move away from the counter. One of the suspects physically pushed an employee aside before the group began taking merchandise.
Once behind the counter, the suspects filled large black trash bags with cartons of cigarettes. Authorities estimate that approximately $7,700 worth of product was stolen. The individuals fled the scene before deputies arrived.
