A small batch of 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid vehicles is being recalled due to a manufacturing defect that could cause a fuel leak and significantly increase the risk of a fire. Though only six vehicles are affected, all are believed to have the defect, prompting Honda and federal regulators to issue an urgent safety notice.

According to the recall report filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue stems from a faulty installation of the fuel feed hose connection. During production on May 2, 2025, a less experienced associate performed key steps in the assembly process due to a temporary staff shortage. The connection was incorrectly judged as secure and passed through quality inspection unnoticed. Drivers may detect a fuel odor or visible signs of leakage, which are indicators of the defect.

Owners are advised not to drive the affected vehicles and to park them outdoors and away from structures until repairs are completed. The defect poses a serious safety risk, as fuel leakage near an ignition source can lead to fire.

To address the problem, Honda dealerships will replace the fuel feed hose and connector with the same parts but using improved installation procedures. The fix is being offered free of charge, and owners who previously paid for repairs may qualify for reimbursement. Dealer notifications began on June 6, while affected vehicle owners will begin receiving recall letters on July 14.

Honda confirmed the issue was discovered during a quality check on May 4 and that no injuries, fatalities, or warranty claims related to this defect have been reported. Installation and training processes have since been revised to prevent recurrence.
