Parents and guardians who purchased Joyracer 500W Dirt Quad Electric ATVs are being urged to stop using the product immediately due to serious safety violations that could lead to injury or death. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a warning on June 12, 2025, stating that the youth all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) fail to meet multiple federal safety standards and pose collision and crash hazards.

The Joyracer ATVs, intended for children aged six and older, lack essential safety components including a tail lamp, stop lamp, and required safety reflectors, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of collisions. Additionally, the design of the handlebars does not meet safety requirements and poses a potential laceration hazard in the event of impact. The product also lacks an owner’s manual and appropriate safety labeling, further contributing to the overall risk. These deficiencies violate mandatory safety standards for youth ATVs.
CPSC officials noted that the Joyracer ATVs also do not have a federally required ATV action plan, a measure designed to promote safe use, rider training, and age-appropriate operation. Without this plan, the product is not legally permitted to be sold in the U.S. market. The agency has issued a Notice of Violation to Joyracer, based in China, which has not responded to requests for information and is not providing any remedy to consumers.

The ATVs were sold online at Walmart.com between June 2024 and January 2025, with prices ranging from $550 to $1,000. They came in various colors including black, blue, light blue, red, and yellow. It’s possible they were also distributed by other online sellers. Because of the safety issues and lack of manufacturer support, consumers are advised to dispose of the vehicles following local regulations and are strongly discouraged from selling or giving them away.
Anyone who has experienced a safety issue with the Joyracer youth ATV is encouraged to report the incident at www.SaferProducts.gov.
