We know you value local news and entertainment that is free, open, and independent. Producing high-quality, paywall-free content isn't free. It takes time, effort, and resources to keep you informed and entertained. Unlike corporate media, we don’t have deep-pocketed investors or big advertisers funding our work—we rely on you, our readers and listeners, to keep Radio Free Hub City running. We're literally running on a shoe-string budget, but keep working hard to provide as much news and entertainment as we can.

The dedication will feature a new park bench installed as a tribute to those laid to rest at the cemetery, including 14 African American Civil War veterans and one World War I veteran. This gesture acknowledges their valor and service, ensuring their contributions are recognized and remembered by future generations.
The Halfway African American Cemetery, located at 11027 Clinton Avenue, carries historical importance as it was operated by the Independent Order of the Good Samaritans and Daughters of Samaria between 1897 and 1932. It stands as a testament to the strength and resilience of the local African American community, preserving an essential piece of Washington County’s history.
