A fire at a residence in Cambridge on Thursday afternoon led to the evacuation of occupants and caused significant structural and property damage, though no injuries were reported. The blaze occurred at a two-story, wood-framed single-family home located at 207 Maple Avenue in Dorchester County and was discovered by the homeowner shortly after 3 p.m.

The fire department was alerted when smoke alarms within the home activated, allowing residents to escape safely. A total of 45 firefighters from the Rescue Fire Company responded to the incident, bringing the fire under control within 45 minutes. There were no arrests, and officials reported no fire alarm or sprinkler system was installed in the home.
The estimated loss from the fire is $250,000 for the structure and an additional $100,000 for its contents. The American Red Cross is currently providing assistance to the displaced occupants. The exact origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.
