The recall follows a notification from Hanshaw & Capling Farms of Immokalee, Florida, which originally supplied the tomatoes and issued its own recall due to potential contamination in its facility. Ray & Mascari repackaged the affected produce and has since notified customers and distribution centers with instructions on how to handle the recalled product. Salmonella infection can be particularly dangerous to vulnerable populations, including the elderly and immunocompromised individuals, and may lead to severe health complications in rare cases.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled product are advised not to eat it and to dispose of it immediately. Questions or illness reports related to the recall can be directed to Ray & Mascari Inc. at 1-317-637-0234, available Monday through Saturday between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST.
