A Philadelphia man has been sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison following his conviction on drug trafficking and firearms charges. The sentence follows a 2022 incident in which large quantities of narcotics and a loaded firearm were discovered during a routine traffic stop in central Pennsylvania.

Leon Weathersbe, 38, received a 137-month prison sentence on May 7, 2025, after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine, as well as possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Keli M. Neary in the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
The charges stemmed from an April 12, 2022, traffic stop conducted by Pennsylvania State Police. Weathersbe initially cooperated and consented to a vehicle search, but fled on foot during the process. Though he was not apprehended immediately, officers discovered fentanyl, methamphetamine, marijuana, and a loaded handgun concealed under the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

Investigators also recovered $1,600 from Weathersbe at the time of the stop. The case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a Department of Justice initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and enhancing community safety through coordinated law enforcement efforts.
The investigation was led by the Pennsylvania State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David C. Williams.
