A Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania resident has been sentenced to over ten years in federal prison for her involvement in a drug trafficking operation. Rasheeda Kelly, 47, was handed down a 122-month sentence by Senior United States District Judge Julia K. Munley on May 21, 2026, for her attempted possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced the outcome of the case.

According to information from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Kelly was part of a conspiracy in February 2025 to receive a package containing approximately 4.4 kilograms of methamphetamine. This package was destined for her residence in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, with the intention of distributing the drugs. Law enforcement intervened before the package reached its intended destination, intercepting the shipment. Following the interception, authorities obtained and executed a search warrant at Kelly’s home.

During the search of Kelly’s residence, law enforcement officers discovered a significant cache of firearms. A total of twelve weapons were seized from the property. Notably, one of the firearms found had been reported stolen. The presence of these weapons in Kelly’s possession was particularly significant given her prior criminal history. At the time of the offense, Kelly had existing convictions for offenses that legally prohibited her from possessing firearms, adding another layer to the charges she faced.

The investigation into this drug trafficking operation was a collaborative effort between Homeland Security Investigations and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigations. Assistant United States Attorney Jenny P. Roberts was responsible for prosecuting the case. This sentencing serves as a reminder of the serious consequences associated with drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession within the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity related to drug distribution or illegal firearm possession to law enforcement.
