According to documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, approximately 4% of the 160,729 affected vehicles may be equipped with faulty rearview cameras. The issue stems from fretting corrosion within the camera’s terminal header connector, potentially caused by a combination of misaligned soldering due to a damaged oven at the supplier’s facility and unauthorized tooling changes at a sub-supplier. These conditions can interfere with electrical conductivity and result in the loss of rear visibility.
The affected vehicles include 96,305 Super Duty trucks (F-250, F-350, F-450), 25,610 Ford Expeditions, 10,284 Lincoln Navigators, and 28,530 Lincoln MKC vehicles. All models were produced between August 2013 and March 2015. Ford has identified Magna as the camera component manufacturer, with parts produced in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Ford will notify owners by mail starting May 5, 2025, with notifications expected to conclude by May 9. The company is instructing vehicle owners to bring their vehicles to Ford or Lincoln dealerships for a free rearview camera replacement. The replacement units are reported to be manufactured after the reflow oven was repaired and feature improved soldering and header tooling. Additionally, owners who paid for previous repairs may be eligible for reimbursement under Ford’s recall reimbursement policy filed with NHTSA.
