Maryland State Police identified the suspect as Gary Lee Plummer. After a consultation with the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office, Plummer was charged with attempted child abduction, attempted kidnapping, two counts of second-degree assault, and DUI. He is currently being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, pending a hearing before a district court commissioner.
The arrest occurred around 3:00 p.m., when a trooper from the Frederick Barrack stopped a red Ford Taurus. During the interaction, the trooper noted signs of impairment and took Plummer into custody. Shortly after, police received reports from two juvenile females in the area who claimed they had been approached by Plummer before the stop.
