According to federal prosecutors, 30-year-old Kyree Ross was indicted by a grand jury in the Middle District of Pennsylvania on five counts, including possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, illegal possession of firearms by a felon, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. The charges also include possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. The allegations involve two specific dates: April 20, 2022, when Ross allegedly had a firearm with its serial number removed, and November 30, 2024, when he was found in possession of 28 grams of crack cocaine and a firearm connected to drug trafficking.

Ross, who has a prior felony conviction, is also accused of unlawfully possessing both a firearm and ammunition. Federal law prohibits felons from possessing firearms under any circumstances. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, in collaboration with the Harrisburg Bureau of Police and the Pennsylvania State Police.

This case falls under the Department of Justice’s Operation Take Back America, a coordinated national effort aimed at disrupting drug trafficking operations and targeting violent crime connected to cartels and transnational criminal organizations. The initiative combines resources from the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhoods. Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Ford is leading the prosecution.

If convicted, Ross faces a maximum sentence of life in prison, supervised release, and monetary fines. Sentencing will ultimately be determined by a federal judge in accordance with statutory guidelines. As with all indictments, Ross is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
