The Ecolane system is tailored to enhance access for elderly passengers and individuals with disabilities. Complementary ADA Paratransit services, which operate within three-quarters of a mile from fixed transit routes, will benefit from the upgrade. These services are federally mandated to support those who cannot use standard bus routes due to physical limitations. The implementation of the new technology is expected to improve timely access to critical destinations like medical appointments, workplaces, and community services.

In addition to ADA-related services, the new system will support the JOBS Program, operated in coordination with the Washington County Department of Social Services. The program provides transportation assistance for job seekers, trainees, and workers. Ecolane’s platform will allow Washington County Transit to offer more adaptable and efficient services, helping participants overcome transportation challenges that often hinder employment opportunities.
