A pedestrian was killed in Hagerstown on the afternoon of April 23rd after being struck by a vehicle that veered off the roadway in the 900 block of Potomac Avenue. The collision occurred at approximately 2:40 p.m. and prompted an immediate response from the Hagerstown Police Department.

According to initial findings, a 2017 Lexus SUV was traveling northbound when it left the roadway and collided with a trailer attached to a parked 2015 Ford F-150. Standing near the truck at the time was Albert Sciblia, a 55-year-old Hagerstown resident, who was fatally struck by the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, identified only as a 39-year-old woman from Hagerstown, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Meritus Medical Center for treatment.

The department’s Crash Reconstruction Team was dispatched to investigate the incident. Officials confirmed that the investigation remains active, and findings will be submitted to the Washington County State’s Attorney’s Office to assess potential charges. Authorities have not released the name of the driver pending further review.

Law enforcement officials have not indicated whether road conditions or driver impairment may have contributed to the incident.
