A limited number of 2024 Acura ZDX SUVs are being recalled due to a defect that could lead to damage of critical electric vehicle components, potentially increasing the risk of a crash. The recall affects only nine vehicles, but all are believed to have the defect, according to a safety report submitted to federal regulators.

The issue stems from improperly fastened passenger-side front stabilizer bar bracket bolts during vehicle assembly. If these bolts loosen and separate from the vehicle frame, the stabilizer bar or its bracket could come into contact with high voltage cables or EV battery coolant lines. This could eventually cause the vehicle to shut down or become undriveable. The defect was discovered by General Motors, which manufactured the affected vehicles on behalf of Honda.
Honda traced the problem to a specific manufacturing process involving a dual spindle tool used to retighten bolts. The tool’s configuration could incorrectly confirm that both bolts were secure when only one had been properly torqued. This recall is distinct from a prior 2024 Acura ZDX stabilizer bar recall and does not involve the same vehicles.

Honda confirmed that no warranty claims, field reports, or reports of crashes or injuries had been received as of early April. The company decided to proceed with the recall after a thorough analysis. Affected owners will be notified beginning May 27, 2025, and directed to authorized Acura dealers for inspection and, if needed, proper tightening or repairs of the bolts, stabilizer bar, high voltage cables, or coolant lines. Those who previously paid for similar repairs may qualify for reimbursement.
Production was corrected on January 16, 2025, when GM reconfigured the tightening tool to ensure proper torque application. Dealer notifications were set to begin on April 11, 2025.
