The arrest occurred on April 2 during a traffic stop near Brownsville, Texas. Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector’s Anti-Smuggling Unit, with assistance from the Cameron County Constables Precinct 2 Office, identified the suspect as Fabian Silva-Aguirre. Authorities noted that Silva-Aguirre is known by the alias “Comandante Pony” and is believed to have significant ties to the Gulf Cartel, a criminal organization based in northeastern Mexico.
