A Hamas source has indicated that the group is willing to accept an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire proposal, which would involve the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) halting strikes on Hamas and gradually withdrawing from Gaza. In exchange, Hamas would provide Israel with information on the conditions of hostages, including proof of life for those still alive and documentation on those who have died. The ceasefire is intended to serve as a basis for further negotiations to determine a timeline for the release of all remaining hostages.

According to reports, the Egyptian plan closely resembles a previous proposal by U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff, which Hamas had rejected. That plan would have secured the release of American hostage Edan Alexander and four other living hostages. Under the current proposal, the ceasefire would take immediate effect, with further discussions aimed at securing a broader agreement between the parties.

While international mediators push for a resolution, families of the hostages have expressed frustration with the proposal. Some have criticized what they see as a selective approach to hostage releases, arguing that all captives should be freed simultaneously rather than in stages. They have called on the Israeli government to increase military pressure on Hamas rather than agree to a ceasefire under the current conditions.

Israel’s leadership has not yet officially responded to Hamas’ claim of accepting the ceasefire terms. The outcome of ongoing diplomatic efforts remains uncertain, as Israel continues military operations aimed at dismantling Hamas’ infrastructure in Gaza.
