The first fire was reported at 3:32 p.m. on Friendsville Addison Road in Friendsville, where a single-family mobile home caught fire. The resident, who was outside at the time, noticed flames coming from the roof. The fire quickly spread to nearby dried foliage, engulfing multiple vehicles before crossing the road and burning approximately five acres. The Friendsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department responded with 60 firefighters, taking an hour to control the fire. The Maryland Forestry Division assisted due to the fire’s spread. Damage estimates are set at $65,000 for the structure and $25,000 for its contents. The cause remains under investigation.
