On March 7, 2025, at approximately 6:25 p.m., a DHPD officer attempted to stop an Infiniti SUV on Marlboro Pike. The driver initially stopped but then fled northbound on Addison Road South. The officer lost sight of the vehicle and shared the car’s description over the radio. Shortly thereafter, both a DHPD officer and a Capitol Heights Police Department (CHPD) officer spotted the Infiniti and attempted another stop. Moments later, the driver of the Infiniti collided with four vehicles in the 1200 block of Addison Road South.
The driver of the Infiniti was taken into custody and transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A woman and a juvenile in one of the vehicles struck by the Infiniti were also hospitalized. While the woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries, the juvenile was pronounced dead at the hospital. The occupants of the other vehicles involved in the collision remained at the scene with only minor injuries. Body-worn and dash cameras from the involved officers captured footage of the incident.
