Hyundai Motor America has issued a recall for 32,594 Genesis vehicles due to a software issue affecting the instrument panel (IP) cluster displays. The affected vehicles include the 2023-2024 Genesis G80, the 2023-2024 Genesis GV80, the 2025 Genesis GV70, and the 2023-2025 Genesis GV70 “Electrified.” The recall, filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) under Recall No. 25V-105, cites a noncompliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 101, which governs controls and displays.

The recall addresses a problem where the instrument panel may not function properly or may show partial or flickering displays due to a software logic error. This malfunction could obscure important vehicle information, including the speedometer, fuel gauge, and critical on-screen notifications related to the powertrain, increasing the risk of a crash. The vehicles impacted by this recall were produced between January 5, 2023, and February 8, 2025, at Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) and Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA).
Hyundai will notify vehicle owners and dealers by April 20, 2025, providing instructions to bring the affected vehicles to Genesis retailers for a software update to the IP cluster display. The update will be free of charge regardless of whether the vehicle is still under warranty. The company will also reimburse out-of-pocket expenses incurred by owners who sought remedies for this issue before the recall. The software update has already been implemented in new production vehicles starting in April 2024 for the G80 and February 2025 for the GV70. The GV80 model received the updated software with the start of its 2025 production.
