The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a warning advising consumers to immediately stop using Uomeod Mini Steamers due to the risk of burn injuries from hot water. The commission has received 49 reports of hot water ejecting, spilling, or leaking from the steamers, resulting in nine reported burn injuries. Among these, one case involved a second-degree burn after hot water splashed onto a consumer’s thigh in November 2023.

Despite these safety concerns, Uomeod and its manufacturer, Dongguan Esino Manufacturing Service Co. Ltd., have not agreed to offer a recall remedy. The steamers, which are designed to release steam for pressing clothing and upholstery, have been found to eject hot water when overfilled. CPSC’s evaluation concluded that the product’s instructions do not adequately warn consumers about the potential for hot water ejections or how to prevent them.

The steamers were sold online at Amazon.com by Uomeod-LZ001 from December 2019 through July 2024, with prices ranging between $14 and $31. They were available in black, white, and rose gold. The brand name “Uomeod” is printed on the side of the product beneath the water reservoir window, and “Mini Steamer” along with “Model: ZL-001” can be found on a label at the bottom of the product.
