Officers responded to reports of vandalism on February 3, 2025, discovering markings on trash cans, an electrical box, a parking meter, and a business’s exterior walls. Surveillance footage captured a man using a paint pen in the 300 block of N. Market Street, leading investigators to an Airbnb in the 100 block of N. Market Street, where the suspect had stayed overnight.

Further inquiries identified the suspect as Daniel K. Simmons, 35, of New Jersey. His vehicle was later located at a business in Urbana by Frederick County Sheriff’s Office deputies. Frederick Police responded and arrested Simmons, transporting him to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center. Because he resides out of state, he was taken to central booking instead of receiving a criminal citation.
