Since its inception in 2010, the EGATE program has recognized 133 public schools across Maryland for their dedication to identifying and fostering gifted learners. To achieve the designation, schools undergo a rigorous 15-month documentation process, demonstrating excellence in student identification, curriculum and instruction, professional development, and program management. The program highlights the effort required to develop robust gifted education initiatives that meet state standards.
The recognized schools will be honored at an awards ceremony on February 22 at Severn Run High School in Severn. More information on gifted and talented education programs is available through the Maryland State Department of Education.
