The incident began around 7:00 p.m. when deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle on Route 50 near Dutchmans Lane. The driver, a juvenile male, failed to stop, prompting a pursuit involving marked police cruisers. Officers from the Easton Police Department joined the effort, which ended when the vehicle crashed into a tree on Black Dog Alley. The crash resulted in the death of an adult female front passenger, while the other three occupants—two juveniles and one adult—sustained injuries but were treated and released.
The IID completed its investigation on January 16, 2025, analyzing all evidence related to the case. The Attorney General’s Office concluded that none of the officers involved in the pursuit violated Maryland law. As a result, no criminal charges will be brought against them.
