The two-alarm fire prompted a response from the Accident Volunteer Fire Department, supported by approximately 60 firefighters. Crews managed to bring the fire under control within two hours. Despite their efforts, the fire caused an estimated $300,000 in damages. Numerous cattle and hogs escaped unharmed, but three cattle perished, and three hogs were injured during the incident. A firefighter sustained minor injuries but was treated and released on the scene.
Fire investigators have identified the center pen and tool room area as the origin of the fire. Although the cause has not been conclusively determined, preliminary findings suggest it may be linked to an extension cord plugged into a skid steer or a portable heater. Investigators have found no evidence of foul play but are continuing to evaluate all accidental causes.
