Residential customers can expect an average increase of $6.26 on their monthly bills, with the typical charge for 1,000 kWh rising from $89.06 to $95.32. Despite the increase, city officials note that the new rates will still be about 20% lower than those charged by other local electricity providers, offering comparatively affordable service.
The additional revenue is earmarked for infrastructure investments aimed at ensuring the continued safety and reliability of electricity delivery. Officials emphasize that these improvements are necessary to meet the city’s long-term energy needs.
