The investigation, spearheaded by Wicomico Narcotics—a partnership involving the Maryland Department of State Police, the Fruitland Police Department, the Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)—began in the spring of 2024. The operation targeted the distribution of illegal drugs, including cocaine and fentanyl, across Wicomico, Dorchester, and Baltimore counties.

In August 2024, search and seizure warrants were executed in the three counties, resulting in the confiscation of over 2,500 grams of suspected cocaine, nearly 30 grams of fentanyl, and other controlled substances. Law enforcement also seized 14 firearms and four vehicles used in the drug distribution network.

This investigation was funded by the Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention and Policy and the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces. Wicomico Narcotics operates as part of the Washington/Baltimore High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program, which focuses on disrupting and dismantling drug-trafficking operations in the region.

The operation was supported by a coalition of more than two dozen agencies, including the Maryland State Police, the DEA, multiple county sheriff’s offices across the Eastern Shore, the Salisbury Police Department, and federal partners such as Homeland Security Investigations. Additional backing came from the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network, which provided grant funding and strategic resources to facilitate inter-agency collaboration and intelligence sharing.
